Common questions

I can’t find the Grablet icon

Chrome and Edge hide new extensions behind the puzzle-piece button. Click it, then the pin beside Grablet, and the icon stays on the toolbar.

The Save button doesn’t appear on the post

Play the video or open the photo first. Grablet adds its button once the media has loaded. If the post still shows nothing, open Grablet from the toolbar. Everything on the page is listed there.

Does it work on Firefox, Safari or my phone?

Grablet is available on desktop Firefox and can be installed in Firefox for Android. Use Firefox’s Extensions menu to open it. Desktop side panels, right-click extension menus and tab recording are not available on Android. Grablet is not available for Safari, Chrome for Android or Firefox on iOS.

Firefox for Android: with Grablet 0.1.0.611, video saves from X and Facebook were checked on a phone on 14 October 2026. Tap Save, then tap Download in Firefox’s own “Download file?” prompt to finish the save. Photo saves on Android have not been rechecked on a phone since that release, and not every desktop feature exists on Android. If a save stays at “Starting” or nothing is found, send the post URL and your Firefox and Grablet versions to support@grablet.app.

How do I use Grablet on a site that isn’t listed?

Open Grablet on that site and switch it on. Grablet is off everywhere it doesn’t support by name until you do this, one site at a time. You can switch it off again from the same place.

A window closed by itself after I clicked play

On a site you have enabled yourself, Grablet closes windows that a click on a player opens without asking. This is download-click protection, scoped to enabled sites. It is on by default, acts only on clear evidence, and never runs on the sites Grablet supports by name. Switch it off for any site from the popup.

Grablet says it found nothing on this page

Grablet can only see media the page has actually loaded. Play the video for a moment, or scroll until the images appear, then open Grablet again. On a page you opened in a background tab, switch to it first.

Does it work on YouTube?

No, and it never will. Chrome Web Store policy prohibits downloading from YouTube, so YouTube is blocked in Grablet’s code. Any extension offering it risks removal. The full reasoning, and what you can do instead.

What about Netflix, Spotify or Disney+?

No. Those services use DRM, and circumventing it is illegal in most countries. Grablet blocks them deliberately and there is no setting to change that.

Can it save posts I only see when I’m signed in?

Yes, on the sites Grablet supports. It works with what your own browser has already loaded in your own session, so anything you can see, it can generally save. It never reaches anything you couldn’t view yourself.

Some videos are marked HLS/DASH with a PRO button

Those are streams. The video arrives as hundreds of small fragments, sometimes with sound and picture kept separate. Assembling them into one MP4 is the media engine, which is part of Grablet Pro. While Grablet is in beta, until 9 March 2027, assembly is free for everyone; after that, Free keeps three engine saves a day. It runs inside your browser, with nothing to install, and everything else stays free.

Where do my downloads go?

Into your browser’s normal Downloads folder, inside a Grablet folder, organised by website. Instagram saves land in Downloads / Grablet / instagram.com.

Why does it need access to the sites I visit?

At install, Grablet only has access to the sites it supports by name. Any other site is off until you enable it from the popup, and you can take that back at any time. On those sites it reads what the page has loaded, fetches from the site’s own servers only when you click Save, and sends nothing anywhere. See the privacy policy.

It stopped working on a site it used to handle

Sites change how they deliver media, which occasionally breaks detection. Tell us the site and we’ll push a fix. This is the part of Grablet we maintain most actively. Fixes are listed on the changelog.

Is it really free?

Yes. Free saves every plain file a site serves, unlimited, with no account, and sound as MP3, with no length limit from version 0.1.0.602 (earlier versions stop at twenty minutes). Assembling streamed video into one MP4, and joining video and audio served apart, is free for everyone through 9 March 2027, and three a day after that. Pro adds the original .m4a sound, clips and GIFs, recording a tab, evidence records, cloud saves and file-name templates. Nothing in the Free column of the Pro page will ever become paid.

Billing

Does Pro renew by itself?

Yes. Pro is a yearly subscription. It renews automatically once a year, and each renewal emails you a fresh key to paste over the old one. From two weeks before the key ends, Grablet’s Pro panel and Settings show the date. You do not need to buy again; buying again would start a second subscription. Lifetime keys bought before 6 September 2026 never renew and never expire.

How do I cancel?

Email support@grablet.app. Write from the address you used at checkout, or from any address if you tell us which purchase it is: the receipt number in Stripe’s email, or the date and the last four digits of the card. Cancelling takes effect at the end of the paid year, and Pro keeps working until then.

Can I get a refund?

Yes, in full, on request within 14 days of any charge, the first one or a renewal. Email support@grablet.app. Write from the address you used at checkout, or from any address if you tell us which purchase it is: the receipt number in Stripe’s email, or the date and the last four digits of the card.

I lost my key

Email support@grablet.app and we will send it again to the address you used at checkout; if you no longer have that mailbox, tell us which purchase it is (the receipt number, or the date and the last four digits of the card). The key is also in the email that arrived when you bought, or when the subscription last renewed.
